Basic H2S Training (FIGCSH2SEN)

• This course will enable the participant to know the dangers of hydrogen sulphide and how to protect themselves against this gas in the best possible way.

• This course is a combination of theory and practical exercises.

• Personnel who are, or may be, exposed to a working environment where H2S gas can occur.

• The following topics will be covered in the course:

• Alarms

• Definitions; PPM, TWA, ceiling value

• How to detect H2S

• H2S properties

• Physiological effects of exposure

• Types of respiratory equipments; escape masks and supplied-air respirator with postitive pressure

• Use of portable gas detectors

• Regulations on exposure limits and ceiling values

• Practical exercises

• Final test

• Recommended refresher course every 2 years.

• Delivered according to OPITO standard.
